PROTECTION AND CRISIS RESPONSE

IraQueer provides life-saving support to LGBT+ individuals in Iraq through a comprehensive case management system, offering safe housing, mental health care, and emergency aid to over 50 individuals in 2024 alone.

By collaborating with international partners, the organization facilitates the relocation of activists in immediate danger while addressing economic hardships through emergency financial aid. Additionally, IraQueer empowers the community with safety guides and builds underground networks to ensure discreet and secure support in even the most hostile environments.

Case Management

Provided direct support to over 50 at-risk individuals during 2024 only through a robust case management system. Services included safe housing, mental health care, and emergency aid, tailored to address the specific challenges faced by LGBT+ individuals in Iraq's hostile environment​​.

Activist Relocation

Collaborated with international partners to relocate activists under immediate threat, ensuring their safety and ability to continue advocacy efforts from secure locations​​.

Safety and Security Measures

Through case management procedures, we develop personalized safety plans as the foundation of our support.  We also distributed a comprehensive guide to navigating Iraq’s hostile legal landscape, empowering community members with practical tools and strategies to protect themselves and mitigate risks.

Emergency Financial Aid

Partnered with organizations to deliver financial assistance to individuals facing identity-based economic hardships, helping them overcome challenges exacerbated by discrimination and systemic exclusion​​.
